Vestavia Hills completed the 2015 season with a 9-3 record. With their 5-2 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 7A region three, the Rebels earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. The Rebels open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Homewood on Friday, August 26 at Thompson Reynolds Stadium/Buddy Anderson Field. Last year the Homewood Patriots finished with an overall record of 9-3 and in second place in Class 6A region five. The Patriots lost in the second round of the Class 6A playoffs to Clay-Chalkville by a score of 40-39. Vestavia Hills and Homewood have met a total of 52 times on the football field.
